Politicians running for office in Nigeria are planning how to win their respective constituencies as the country gears up for the general election that will take place the following year, in 2023. These politicians are made up of men and women who aspire to lead Nigeria's illustrious populace. It's wonderful to meet and get to know the two female Nigerian Nollywood actress who is allegedly well-known and well-liked by Nigerians before they decide to enter politics to see how much energy they might bring to the possible decisions of Nigerian citizens.
1. Funke Akindele:
Akindele-Bello Olufunke Ayotunde is the former Wife of Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz. She is a Nigerian Nollywood actress and film producer. She is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) where she was picked ahead of other contenders to emerge as the Deputy Governor candidate of the PDP party in Lagos State. The aspiring Governor, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), who won the PDP primaries, particularly chose her over others for reasons best known to him and his political party. Many who understand politics believe that it was allegedly to gain the interest of the youths during and after the election.
2. Tonto Dikeh:
Tonto Charity Dikeh is a well-known humanitarian and Nollywood actress from Nigeria. She was declared the African Democratic Congress's (ADC) deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 election for governor of Rivers State. She was chosen as an ADC party member by Tonte Ibraye, the party's gubernatorial flag bearer who won the election at the convention.
Due to her popularity, Ambassador Tonto, who is well-known on social media and in the entertainment business, could garner support for the party during the upcoming gubernatorial race in the state of rivers.
My opinion: after analyzing their decision to join politics, I have realized that they are paving the way for other women to do the same for the benefit of Nigeria and Africa at large.
Banky W
Actor and singer, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W won the PDP primary ticket for the Eti-Osa constituency in the Federal House of Representatives ahead of the 2023 general election.
It was a double win for the singer as he was earlier declared the winner in the first primary election but the result slip showed his challenger, Sam Aiboni, as the winner.
Following the controversy, another primary was conducted after two weeks and Banky W won again, polling 24 votes out of 29 votes cast by the delegates.
Lagos PDP gov candidate justifies Funke Akindele's appointment
Desmond Elliot
Actor Desmond Elliot, who is currently representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, won the All Progressives Congress ticket for a third term.
In the primary held in May 202, Elliot polled 30 votes as the sole contestant for the ticket.
Elliot contested and won the Surulere Constituency 1 seat at the general election on April 11, 2015. His nomination by APC for a second term came unopposed as well as the third.
Ned Nwoko
Popular businessman and politician, Ned Nwoko, clinched the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial ticket for Delta North district ahead of the 2023 general elections.
To celebrate his win, the politician splashed over N10m on his staff, as he gifted N100,000 each to over 100 members of his staff.
Nwoko is married to a famous Nigerian actress, Regina Daniels, and they have two sons together.
Odi Okojie
Husband of actress Mercy Johnson, Odi Okojie, won the All Progressives Congress ticket for a House of Representatives seat for Edo State.
With his win, Okojie emerged as the candidate for the Esan North East/ South East federal constituency ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Okojie married Mercy Johnson in 2011 and they have four children together.
