Chiwetalu Agu, a Nollywood veteran, was reportedly thrashed by troops in Onitsha, Anambra State, for allegedly donning an outfit made from the Biafran flag while on duty.
The actor was allegedly attacked by soldiers while shopping for bread at a market in Onitsha, according to a video that went viral on social media. The man claimed that the actor had stopped at the market to buy bread when the soldiers attacked him for wearing a Biafran outfit.
During the video, another speaker can be heard saying, "Right now, this Onitsha, Upper Iweka is being protested because Nigerian military have detained Chiwetalu Agu, Chiwetalu Agu is a Nigerian Nollywood actor, and the youth are revolting."
A snapshot of the actor dressed in the Biafran flag costume was recently uploaded on social media as a show of support for the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Pictures of the actor from his Instagram account have been removed in the meanwhile.
