A reality show is a type of television program that aims to show how ordinary people behave in everyday life, or in situations, often created by the program makers, which are intended to represent everyday life.
Many Nigerian female music artists may have been talented in their natural ways, but it took different reality shows for Nigerians to discover them. On the shows, they demonstrated their prowess and won the hearts of millions. Today, they are being celebrated and praised.
However, critics have argued that most of the reality television shows in the country do not accurately reflect reality, in ways both implicit and deceptive. And a common question that is often asked is, is reality TV good for society?
Although the shows entertain viewers, they adversely affect society at the same time. They adversely affect children by derailing the process of their talent growth and contributes to immorality. But, in comparison, the beneficial effects overweight the disadvantages.

1. Niniola
Niniola Apata aka Niniola is a singer and songwriter. She graduated from the University of Lagos where she earned a Bachelor’s of Education Certificate.
She hit the limelight after she finished as the third runner-up in the sixth season of project fame West Africa.
Early this year, she recounted her experience and significant influences on her rise to stardom. Niniola who claimed to have been in a relationship revealed how she failed multiple auditions. She, however, maintained that courage and hard work were instrumental to her success story.
2. Amarachi
Amarachi is a teenage singer and dancer. She came into the limelight after winning the maiden edition of Nigeria’s Got Talent in 2013.
Recall that after the winning, she was equally given an Award by Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness, Omo No’ba N’edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, for her sterling performance.
The 8-year-old young violinist astonished Nigerians when she outclassed 50 other contestants to emerge the winner of the maiden edition of the Got Talent competition.
Amarachi is currently studying at Benson Idahosa University.
3. Chidinma Ekile
In 2010, Chidinma was brought into the limelight after she won the 3rd season of project fame in West Africa.
In May, she stunned many of her teaming fans after announcing switching from secular music to full-time gospel music. She claimed that God had ordained her conversion to gospel music.
Recounting how she got to this point, Ekile said, “The journey so far has been quite challenging. I have had to go through a lot. There has been a lot of submissions, praying, and spending time with God for this moment. Like I said before, this had been ordained. It is just the right time to step into it.”
4. Omawumi Megbele
Omawumi became recognized in 2007 when she emerged as the first runner-up on the first edition of the West African Idols music competition, a reality TV show part of the Idol Franchise.
In June, the 'wonder woman' crooner said she had been a baby mama for 4 years before her husband decided to walk her down the aisle.
She made the disclosure when she appeared on a TVC program while discussing if it was morally right for a woman to decide to have kids out of wedlock.
5. Yemi Alade
Yemi gained fame after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009 and is best known for her hit single “Johnny”. She has since grown to be loved beyond the shores of Nigeria and Africa.
Recently, she surprised her mother with a brand new Lexus SUV on her birthday. The music star took to her Instagram page on Friday, October 1, 2021, where she shared a video of the brand new SUV.
Alade's mum couldn't hide her joy as she was presented with the keys to the white Lexus RX 350. The singer had earlier shared photos of her mum and siblings on her Instagram page.
